As for Paramount’s super Sonic, it’s now set a new record as the franchise’s highest-grossing title with $420M global through Sunday, besting the $405M of Sonic 2. Of that, $203.5M is from 64 offshore markets. The holdover drop was 36% internationally this session, during which it added $15.2M .

The Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, are continuing to dominate at the global box office well into 2025. The franchise blockbusters have already taken in large sums at the worldwide box office but they have each recently passed new milestones.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has officially overtaken both of its predecessors at the global box office to become the highest grossing film in the trilogy.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has also earned over $200 million at the international box office. The overseas cume stands at $203.5 million

This has been a solid holdover weekend with milestones crossed and neared for the major titles in release as we come off a really strong end to 2024. But it’s bittersweet as we cannot ignore the fire devastation in the home of Hollywood.
