The good news is, your account and games will transfer over to the EA app that replaces Origin. However, there are some potential caveats.

EA's Origin PC client has officially reached the end of the line. The gaming company had previously announced its plans to rebrand the Origin app for desktop players back in 2020 and began rolling out the new EA app in 2022.

Electronic Arts is one of the most notable publishers in the video games industry. Not only does it own extremely successful franchises like EA Sports FC, The Sims, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age, the company also plays a key role in setting trends in the games market.

The company will sunset Origin this April, forcing gamers with EA titles to open them via the newer EA app. The decision to shut down Origin is reportedly linked to a decline in 32-bit software support.

EA will finally shut down Origin on April 17, 2025. Anyone still using Origin will have to make the switch over to the EA App to keep playing their games. EA App doesn't work on 32-bit operating systems,

Origin, EA's universally-disliked PC storefront and launcher launched back in 2011, will finally shut down this year, on 17th April. EA has, of course, long since replaced Origin with the EA App, which isn't much better.
