Microsoft has announced that it's planning to launch a 5G equipped variant of the Surface Laptop later this year. This is the first time that the company is bringing 5G to its Surface Laptop line, as previously the only way to get a 5G capable Surface PC was via the Surface Pro.

Microsoft introduced new Surface Pro and Laptop with Intel processors for businesses. A 5G option has been added to Surface Laptop - only for business customers and using Intel variants. There's a new Surface USB4 Dock,

On Jan. 30, Microsoft showed off the latest Surface for Business Copilot+ PCs, Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11. Both will be on store shelves Feb. 18. Just a day earlier, the company announced all users of the Microsoft Copilot AI assistant will be able to toggle on OpenAI’s o1 model for slower, more “thoughtful” responses.

The rumors are true. Microsoft is launching Intel-powered versions of its Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7. Available on February 18th, both of these new Surface devices are Copilot Plus PCs, but instead of using Qualcomm’s Arm-based Snapdragon X series of chips, they’ll use Intel’s Lunar Lake processors.

Makes you wonder, how bad could Windows-on-Arm really be? Businesses looking to pick up a Surface Pro tablet or laptop powered by Intel's latest generation of Core Ultra processors can expect to pay at least $400 more compared to Microsoft's existing Arm-based offerings.
