We put AMD's fifth-gen EPYC 'Turin' 9005 series to the test. These are AMD's Zen 5 server processors, sporting up to 192 cores and a 500W TDP.

Just not on the same chip, of course Intel's 128-core Granite Rapids Xeons are barely two weeks old and AMD has already fired back with a family of fifth-gen Epycs that boast double-digit IPC gains with up to 192 cores or clock speeds as high as 5 GHz.

At this point, AMD EPYC is certainly a brand which needs no introduction. AMD's dense server processors, based on its Zen 5 and Zen 5c core architecture, build on AMD's origins to offer many-core solutions with huge compute resources and capabilities that continue to outstrip what people might have considered possible just a few generations ago.

The 192-core Epyc 9965 CPU has a boost clock of 3.7GHz and a TDP of 500W, with an L3 Cache of 384MB, for a price of $14,813. The 64-core Epyc 9575F is designed for GPU AI workloads and is capable of 5GHz, with a TDP of 400W, at a cost of $7,592.
