Oklahoma has been in the grip of an Arctic blast, with record-breaking low temperatures and extended freezing conditions.

A rapidly spreading Southern California wildfire, dubbed the Hughes Fire, appeared to be visible from Interstate 5, where a large plume of smoke was captured on wildfire cameras rising from the area.
