NYC ride-share drivers are targeted in a spree of over 20 robberies involving phone snatching and money theft.

It’s not that these drivers are making below the new minimum, it’s that it has become much harder to make more, local drivers say.

Three suspects have been stealing drivers’ phones and using them to transfer themselves at least $37,000 in cash, according to the NYPD.

Police are asking for help in finding four people they say are responsible for a robbery pattern targeting rideshare drivers. Most victims had their phones stolen from them and, in some cases, money as well.

TLC Commissioner David Do on Wednesday called the rideshare companies’ practice of freezing drivers out of the app “harmful, unnecessary and unacceptable.”

Drivers of cabs and ride hailing services like Uber and Lyft, who work as much as 12 hours a day, struggle to take a comfort break.
