Chromebook users will soon gain access to a Recorder app. According to 9to5Google, the app will be available for both Chromebook and Chromebook Plus models, but the version destined for Plus devices will have a few extra goodies.

Google will release a new Recorder app for Chromebooks with ChromeOS 130. The new app will offer offline transcriptions, AI summaries, speaker identification, and more. Only Chromebook Plus devices will get AI-generated summaries,

At the Chromebook event in New York a couple weeks ago, Google unveiled a few new devices (the new Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus and the new Lenovo Chromebook Duet 11") alongside a bunch of great, new software on the way.

ChromeOS 130 will introduce a new audio Recorder later this month. While some AI features are exclusive to Plus devices, all Chromebooks will have access to the Recorder app. The underlying recording and transcription capabilities will be available to all Chromebooks.
