The Indian stock market is open today as the BSE, NSE and MCX have announced a special trading session on Budget day.

BSE Sensex opened over 100 points up at 77,637.01 on Saturday, Budget 2025 day while the NSE Nifty 50 index opened above the 23,500-mark. As FM Sitharaman proceeded with her Budget 2025 speech, the indices reacted rather subtly to the announcements and measures announced by her but slipped into red towards the end.

The stock exchanges are open today, February 1, for a special trade session as the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Union Budget 2025 in Parliament today. Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session higher.

During Sitharaman's speech, the Indian benchmarks erased morning gains and fell to the day's low. The Nifty 50 declined 0.81% to 23,318.30, and the Sensex fell 0.64% to 77,006.47.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,438 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

Indian stock markets started Friday’s session on a firm footing. The NSE Nifty 50 climbed 47.25 points or 0.2%, opening at 23,296.75, while the BSE Sensex gained 105.39 points 0.14%, beginning the day at 76,865.20.

Sensex and Nifty have enjoyed a three-day winning streak, even as FIIs continue to unwind long positions. However, despite the recent gains, Nifty remains 11 percent below its record high from September 27.
